Renters Insurance is required at all Champion communities and proof of renters’ insurance is needed prior to move in. Keys will not be granted until proof of insurance is received.
We require all of our residents to carry renters insurance with a minimum coverage of $300,000.
According to the Insurance Information Institute in New York, only 31% of U.S. renters actually carry Renters Insurance. While some believe it is a waste of money and will never be used, at Champion we want you to be protected– from the smallest liabilities to the worst-case scenario of an apartment fire or flood.
Our insurance as a property management company only provides coverage for structural damage to our apartment buildings. Your personal renters insurance ensures that your belongings inside of your apartment are protected. It also provides coverage in the case that an accident that you cause affects your neighbor’s apartment.
Renters insurance is as easy to set up as your car insurance policy is, and most insurance companies will often bundle car and renters’ insurance together to make one easy monthly payment. Especially when bundled like this, your renter's insurance should be of minimal cost to you– usually around $10 to $15 a month, or a couple of hundred dollars for the whole year.
**Note: Champion requires that your apartment community be named on your renter's insurance policy. This is simply a formality and is just a way for us to make sure that you carry your policy throughout the duration of your lease.
